Brian Brandenburgh of Wynnum Writers meeting on the 3rd November 2009, requested the profile of a place to be written within two seconds and this is what I wrote:
Brian wants me to write a paragaph about a place, a description of it. There have been many places, so which one? How about the Murchison? Now there's a place. Spring is out of this world in the Murchison. The red soil, stunted mulga trees, winding creek beds lined with eucalyptus and coolibahs; sandy and dry, but now after winter rains, the red soil is smothered with wildflowers. Pink and white everlastings, yellow belly buttons, mauve and green mulla mulla and even that exotic rosy dock. Budgies land on the brilliant red sturt peas turning them to green.
