More Earthquakes in Japan

It keeps on happening. The island of Japan will disappear into the sea if it keeps going on. We do not get the full story of how many have died, how they are managing to get accomodation, what are people doing to help for there are those from other nations including ourselves over there doing their best. It is a mammoth clean-up job alone from the first quake back in March without it continuing. Much of that first land swamped by the tsunami probably could never be reclaimed

As a powerful quake struck off the coast of Tokyo this morning, nuclear authorities prepared to raise the nuclear emergency level to level seven, the maximum on the scale.
The Fukushima nuclear plant has been releasing large amounts of radioactive material in the wake of last month's massive earthquake and tsunami.
Preliminary estimates from the Nuclear Safety Commission of Japan suggest that more radiation may have escaped from the plant in the initial hours after the quake.

If officials confirm the upgrading from five to seven on the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) - a global measure from one to seven for nuclear crises - it will be the only time it has been applied other than the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe.
The nuclear crisis stemming from the earthquake and tsunami is currently considered a level five, the same grade given to nuclear accident on Three Mile Island in the US in 1979.
Fresh fires broke out the plant today after a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck 77km east of Tokyo. The Japan Meteorological Agency had measured it at 6.3.
The quake caused subway services in Tokyo to stop and closed Narita international airport. Eleven people were killed in the subway
The latest quake was an aftershock of the 9.0-magnitude quake of March 11 that killed more than 13,000 and left more than 13,500 missing.
Japan has experienced more than 400 aftershocks stronger than magnitude 5.0 since March 11.
