I read other people's blogs and they are very interesting. Mine is mostly historical, recording events that happened. Oh, I know I've published some of my poetry on here, some of my articles I've written, and made comments on events I have posted, but...I never seem to be able to put in here what I really think. I love writing and reading other people's works. Blog writing I still haven't come to terms with yet. Some write an entry every day, others do it once a week. I add something now and again. Maybe I don't like letting everyone know how I feel. Well!! If you want to know how I feel about my writing I could say frustrated. How do I write what Dad feels while the Manunda was dragging anchor at Morotai while a war raged around him. What was in his mind when he found he had to wear a .38 gun to prowl the island? Why was he so against the Yanks as he called them, though many went out of their way to give him lifts in their barges, jeeps and landing craft so he could visit the island, and a grand slam view of the Woma Drome and visiting with the marines whe held the Nips at bay while the Aussies bombarded them into a starving submission? How do I NOT write Nips and Yankees when they are the terms Dad used in his journals and to do so made the story seem constrained! Help! And how can I find a publisher who would be interested in Dad's Story up until the time he published his first famous and well-known book They're a Weird Mob in 1957. A reserved Dad, a quiet Dad, a romancing Dad. Well, John now holds all of the copyright of Dad's, particularly the film rights after all these years, its no longer in the hands of William Powell and so he is talking with people to make this book and movie into a musical. They're A Weird Mob a musical? Dad would turn over in his grave, or his ashes I should write, would come back and slap us all in the face! Dad wrote to John in 1957 as his book was gaining popularity and said he would never look at it being made into a musical. So what do you say as readers of this blog, that was 60-odd years ago or something? But I ask you, can you see anyone writing a lyric or two about us weird aussies as Dad wrote them? I gotta think about this.

Thanks Susan for this wonderful idea how to pacify? troublesome neighbours...I too will have to get me some tombstones... mine don't have troublesome dogs, though they own two alsations, but they have troublesome trees growing up close to the fence giving it twists and bends. I would like to chop them down late one night when all asleep but...

Heard this on the radio today:
Two neighbors had their differences, but when one called the cops because of the other neighbor’s barking dog–that was the last straw. That October, the family with the barking dog placed a cluster of headstones in their front yard. On each was written a name from the complaining neighbor’s family.
I won’t say which family my DH sympathized with (and justly so), but I may have to get me some tombstones. . .

More rumbles and bumps

The past few weeks Dutchinches has reported a number of earthquake rumbles and volcanic grumbles. So I post on Facebook and record this one in my blog and hope others notice these increasing activities and are prepared spiritually and temporarily, for if we are prepared we have no need to fear. For this one it needs to be the Hawiains near this volcano. As a member of th etrue Church, The Church of jesus christ if Latter-day Saints, we have been warned and forewarned of these events taking place before the Saviour comes. That means studying the Scritpures, praying, having a Temple recommend, doing our best for a years supply of food and water if we are stuck, having a 72 hour kit for a quick getaway and an adequate first aid kit for helping wounded and sick in our families

The lava lake inside Halema'uma'u crater, at the top of Mount Kilauea in Hawaii, is closer than ever to reaching the crater floor and spilling out on it, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The summit lava lake is deep within a cylindrical vent with nearly vertical sides. In the past two weeks, the lake level surged about 50 feet (15 meters) and now has only 110 feet (33 m) to go until the lava reaches the top of the vent and floods the crater floor, the USGS said today (Oct. 23).
"It could continue to rise and overflow," said Matt Patrick, a research scientist at the Hawaii Volcano Observatory.
For the past several months, the lava lake has been slowly rising. The summit itself has been slowly inflating since early August.The lava lake rises and falls as magma levels change within the volcano.
The connection between the vent and volcano is the reason the USGS is also keeping an eye on Kilauea's eastern rift zone, Patrick told OurAmazingPlanet. "The rising level results from pressurization of the whole magma chamber," he said.
Deep inside the volcano, the vent supplying Halema'uma'u crater is connected to the actively erupting Pu'u O'o crater. But when the summit of Kilauea inflated in March 2011, the pressure was relieved via a spectacular eruption that broke out at the Kamoamoa Vents.
But the USGS has also watched the volcano's magma chamber pressurize without producing an eruption, Patrick said. "We've seen this pattern several times in the last couple years. One time it produced an eruption, but the other times is just died down and went back to normal."
The USGS has a live webcam trained on the lava lake, accessed through the Hawaii Volcano Observatory's site.
"This is really an exciting time for us," Jessica Ferracane, a park ranger at the Hawaii Volcano National Park, told OurAmazingPlanet. "We're all watching it rise and fall."

Henry B. Eyring Sunday Morning session October 2012

I have been thinking a lot of late about the problems between Murray and Terri and myself. I hhave even considered dropping in, or texting a message to say I was coming. So far I have not done anything about the problem for fear of causing another great caffoufle which Dan might  hear of and he would go around there in an abusive mood and into fisticuffs or something. I wont have brother fighting brother. Not that I have done anything to cause all this. Terri is just angry because I moved into Les' home and they want to sell to get their quarter share of the money. Les Junior's' wife Sue is angry for the same reason. Greed! With a depressed property market at this time, it is not a good idea to sell. So sad. I love my guys, love Terri and tried to love Sue, but she is sly and nasty. But all four sons of mine were agreeable when speaking after Les Senior's funeral that I should move in and Heavenly Father also wanted me to move. In the Sunday Morning Session of the Semi Annual Conference being held, the October 2012 conference, Henry B. Eyring, 1st Counselor in the First Presidency, had this to say in his remarks:

The pavilion that seems to be hiding you from God may be fear of man rather than this desire to serve others. The Savior’s only motivation was to help people. Many of you, as I have, have felt fear in approaching someone you have offended or who has hurt you. And yet I have seen the Lord melt hearts time after time, including my own. And so I challenge you to go for the Lord to someone, despite any fear you may have, to extend love and forgiveness. I promise you that as you do, you will feel the love of the Savior for that person and His love for you, and it will not seem to come from a great distance. For you, that challenge may be in a family, it may be in a community, or it may be across a nation.

New Temples and reduced missionary age says President Thomas S. Monson

President Monson informed us of two new Temples to be constructed. How I delight in this growth of Temples spreading across the world. We are so blessed. When the prints of what they will look like are realeased, I will post them here on my blog. Our missionaries will be spreading also with the lowering of the age for the males from nineteen to eighteen for for the females from twenty one to nineteen. Wonderful news.
President Monson said in part:

As I have indicated previously, no Church-built facility is more important than a temple, and we are pleased to have 139 temples in operation throughout the world, with 27 more announced or under construction. We are grateful for these sacred edifices and the blessings they bring into our lives.

This morning I am pleased to announce two additional temples, which in coming months and years will be built in the following locations: Tucson, Arizona, and Arequipa, Peru. Details concerning these temples will be provided in the future as necessary permits and approvals are obtained.

Brothers and sisters, I now turn to another matter—namely, missionary service.

For some time the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles have allowed young men from certain countries to serve at the age of 18 when they are worthy, able, have graduated from high school, and have expressed a sincere desire to serve. This has been a country-specific policy and has allowed thousands of young men to serve honorable missions and also fulfill required military obligations and educational opportunities.

Our experience with these 18-year-old missionaries has been positive. Their mission presidents report that they are obedient, faithful, mature, and serve just as competently as do the older missionaries who serve in the same missions. Their faithfulness, obedience, and maturity have caused us to desire the same option of earlier missionary service for all young men, regardless of the country from which they come.

I am pleased to announce that effective immediately all worthy and able young men who have graduated from high school or its equivalent, regardless of where they live, will have the option of being recommended for missionary service beginning at the age of 18, instead of age 19. I am not suggesting that all young men will—or should—serve at this earlier age. Rather, based on individual circumstances as well as upon a determination by priesthood leaders, this option is now available.

As we have prayerfully pondered the age at which young men may begin their missionary service, we have also given consideration to the age at which a young woman might serve. Today I am pleased to announce that able, worthy young women who have the desire to serve may be recommended for missionary service beginning at age 19, instead of age 21.

Baptisms of little babies - the real doctrine

And this message by Elder Shayne M. Bowen from the October 2012 Semi-Annual General Conference brought joy to my heart. It is about the death of many babies who were not baptised into other churches beofr ethey died just afte they were born. I had this experience with my uncle, Dad's little brother who was either stillborn or lived for about an hour after he was born. Bronte Nanna had the Spanish Influenza in 1919 and was very ill, consequently her pregnancy was affected and the little boy was born early and buried unnamed in the Tamworth Cemetery. It took me sometime to get the information needed to have this little one sealed to my grandparents. It was done two weeks ago and I felt such peace. The little fellow now has his parents and no doubt a name! Indeed the Lord's Church is wonderful. The truth has been restored to bless those beyond the veil and ourselves.
Elder Shayne M Bowen said this in part, speaking of a very troubled lady who got upset when he spoke the words regarding little infants as written in the Book of Mormon in Moroni :

She said, “Oh, no, Elder, you haven’t done anything wrong. Six years ago I had a baby boy. He died before we could have him baptized. Our priest told us that because he had not been baptized, he would be in limbo for all eternity. For six years I have carried that pain and guilt. After reading this scripture, I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true. I have felt a great weight taken off of me, and these are tears of joy.”

I was reminded of the teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, who taught this comforting doctrine: “The Lord takes many away, even in infancy, that they may escape the envy of man, and the sorrows and evils of this present world; they were too pure, too lovely, to live on earth; therefore, if rightly considered, instead of mourning we have reason to rejoice as they are delivered from evil, and we shall soon have them again.”²

After she suffered almost unbearable grief and pain for six years, the true doctrine, revealed by a loving Father in Heaven through a living prophet, brought sweet peace to this tormented woman. Needless to say, Sister Ramirez and her children who were eight years and older were baptized

He spoke of the horrors of the modern world and how we can overcome these by listening to the Holy Ghost. We can also feel the Holy Ghost when we need comfort, or support or any reason that we need to know something. I have felt the Holy Ghost, a touch on my face, a touch on my back, a touch on my coat-sleeve during a Relief Society meeting on the Holy Ghost. I was prompted to write a poem about Him and have pasted it below Elder Christensen's message. I love conference and I watch some of it, though I can't hear it, but i read the messages and that is great

Who Is the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead, and, as such, like God the Father and Jesus Christ, He knows our thoughts and the intents of our hearts.³ The Holy Ghost loves us and wants us to be happy. Since He knows the challenges we will face, He can guide us and teach us all things we must do to return and live with our Heavenly Father once again.⁴

Unlike Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, who have glorified bodies of flesh and bones, the Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit who communicates to our spirits through feelings and impressions.⁵ As a spirit being, He has the unique responsibility of being an agent through which personal revelation is received. In scripture, the Holy Ghost is often referred to as the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit of Promise, or simply the Spirit.⁶

What Is the Mission of the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost works in perfect unity with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, fulfilling many important roles and distinct responsibilities. The primary purpose of the Holy Ghost is to bear witness of God the Father and of His Son, Jesus Christ,⁷ and to teach us the truth of all things.⁸ A sure witness from the Holy Ghost carries far more certainty than a witness from any other source. President Joseph Fielding Smith taught that “the Spirit of God speaking to the spirit of man has power to impart truth with greater effect and understanding than the truth can be imparted by personal contact even with heavenly beings.”⁹

The Holy Ghost is also known as the Comforter.¹⁰ During times of trouble or despair or simply when we need to know that God is near, the Holy Ghost can lift our spirits, give us hope, and teach us “the peaceable things of the kingdom,”¹¹ helping us feel “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding.”¹²

The dedicated teacher and I,

Discussing the Lord’s Comforter

Which brought a tear to my eye

And ruffled my composure.
